Re-Structure Pro Polish: Car, Bike, Boat & Aircraft Care

no mention of it all on detailng world so either its very new or its crap.

what do u want to do exactly on ur bike.... polish it to remove defects light scratches, restore the colour etc. or to protect the paint???

i ask as a lot of people think polish protects the paint but is in fact the opposite - a polish will expose new paint and waxing protects.

for hand application and to hide minor scratches/swirls u cant do better than autoglym super resin polish as it contains "fillers" which fill the swirls making them less obvious.

for a long lasting wax look at collinite 476s wax or one of the dodo juice hard waxes.
 
I thought it would protect the paint work. Reading the information on the polish it appears it would be similar to other corrosion applications for the engine parts eg ACF50 or similar
 
had a read thru the blurb and also a bit of digging around - its a glaze/sealant that will protect paint and remove very very minor swirls only but is totally different to acf50 - with acf50 u sp, ray it on and can pretty much leave it, With this stuff u need to work it in.

TBH if all ur after is to protect the paint pretty much any WAX will do, look for the nxt wax in halfrauds, thats not too bad but if u can get the collinite 476s thats far superior for protection
 
As the agent for Re-Structure Professional Polish, I would just like to point out that although the product is named a "Polish", it is in fact a "Sealant". This while confusing is standard practice in the industry. Zaino & Meguiar's do it all the time. Many people do not know the different between polish, glaze, sealant or wax and the different tasks they are designed for, so I guess manufacturers naming of products can add to this confusion. Unless people know the exact contents of a product and its specific role, can they make an informed decision and give accurate advice on same. Otherwise it can be a grey area and lead to all sorts of misinformation.

Anyway, back to Re-Structure Professional Polish, while it is non-abrasive, it lifts lighter contamination like a polish or a paint cleanser and also lays down a layer of protection like a wax or sealant would. An all-in-one for paint in new or nearly-new condition.

Others manufacturers products like e.g. Car-Lack 68 or Autoglym Super Resin Polish do something similar, in that they clean and protect, all-in-one. The difference here been that Re-Structure Pro Polish is designed more specifically to protect than clean as well. While the others will cleanse the surface better the protection they offer is very short lived. (They need topping with another product like Collinite wax for good protection). CL 68 and AG SRP offer little in protection terms versus RMP PP. It offers real durable long-term protection. On account of its limited cleaning ability, for more contaminated or oxidised paintwork, the RMP Micro-Finishing Compound is required as a pre-step to prepare and cleanse the surface for the Professional Polish (Sealant Coating) afterwards. Neither product cuts the paint in any way. They do not remove swirl marks but the active ingredients (Glass-Like nano particles) do tone down the appearance of same somewhat. The products gets absorbed into the paint, down to the paint's pores and so beneath the top-surface level. They bond to paint at the molecular level (penetrating sealant), not merely sit on the top surface of paint as a standard wax or sealant would .. like a top surface coating only.

Unlike most products that you polish on, where most of the product remains on the surface, hazes over and then you buff off; RMP products disappear into the finish. They integrate with same. Leave behind a high gloss, glass-like finish with great durability and high release properties that waxes just cannot match. A robust coating which eliminates the need for frequent re-applications. Also versatile so can be used on numerous surfaces and because water-based as opposed to a petroleum product, do not yellow, dull or fade over time to the same extent.

So in summary, if you want a high-gloss, glassy, durable coating of protection (where no swirls marks to be factored into the equation) and that doesn't need to be reapplied 2/3/4 times every year go with Re-Structure Professional Polish.

To hide or disguise swirls, you can go the less expensive route and apply AutoGlym Super Resin Polish and top with a Collinite wax ... 476s for durability, but I would recommend 845 Liquid Insulator Wax myself instead for its more user-friendliness and overall look. It is a more well rounded product in my opinion. Other options would be something like Bilt Hamber Auto Balm or 1Z Einszett Waxpolish Soft. But in my experience, the best product on the market at present specifically for filling in swirl marks and spider webbing is Glare Spider Polish, followed by their Professional Polish. Expensive, but generally you get what you pay for. They have the same philosophy to paint care like the Re-Structure products, and while completely independent of each other (product formulas and composition) they use much the same approach and so are the most closely matched. IMHO Glare will not protect as long or be as robust as RMP which was designed primarily for the marine market (fibreglass and gel coat in particular), but if hiding defects is your major priority on auto or motorbike paints, Glare is the better route to take at present, until something better comes along. Most filler based products tend to wash off very quickly but it has more staying power.

I park my bikes outside all year round and use ACF 50 on all the metal parts and am looking for something to protect the paint work. I think you have answered my question. Thanks.
