Re waterproofing your gear.....

Can't find graingers, is Nikwax the same stuff, as good?

Thanks again

Nikwax is a brand, not a product....they do a whole range of products, some of which WILL be suitable for what you want, others definitely NOT.

I'm afraid you're going to have to RTFM on them ;)

Lol, thx F.

This is the add, and I quote..

"AUCTION IS FOR 1 X NIKWASH SOFTSHELL PROOF AND 1 X NIKWAX TECH WASH
Everything you need for your jackets/rugs etc
Wash-in cleaner for waterproof clothing and equipment. Safely revitalises breathability and water repellency. This product is a non-detergent soap which can be used regularly to clean clothing and equipment without damaging the durable water repellent (DWR) coatings. Use this product instead of detergents or washing powder."

Nikwax, good stuff.
Tech Wash followed by TX.Direct.
Can make the washing machine wiff for a few days after, I got a right telling off from my sister after using her machine:blast

Gulp,

She'll be immediately suspicious of me going near the washing machine anyway!

Bottle of wine will keep her happy...
Hopefully :-)

Thanks for the advice guys, ordered some.

Make sure to remove the soap draw from the machine and thoroughly clean all soap residue from it Then run the machine on it's hottest cycle whilst empty or even use a machine cleaning liquid Before using the tech wash :rob

Grangers Performace Wash can give a great result over Nikwax Tech Wash and generally lasts longer. But you tumble dry the clothing as the heat activates the waterproofing.
Try and use a new / newish washing machine as old machines get a detergent build up in the outer drum that will not be completely removed by an empty hot wash.
Manufacturers of these wash in waterproofers are said to use machines that have never had detergents in them ;)

That's why I use the bath!
