Hallo all. Im Richard and am in the market for a new gsa. I am ready to buy but would like to know of any deals as such that any of you in the past have had? I mean if you were buying a new car they would offer all sorts, packafe upgrade etc. Its my first new bike and just wanted to know how far I could/should push my luck? R

Hi Richard,
in my expiernce, it is quite difficult to get extras thrown in or a discount off the list price. i did get a remus can thrown in.any got a hefty discount on a new driving suit and helemt

Thanks for your reply. Having made a few calls today it seems your right:( I too will now insist on a new can and discount pro suit! Do you ride a gsa, and was it new? I had my eye on a the new darker of the two one. I did think about buying a used example but to be honest there is not much in it cashwise and dont really want one with 30+k on the clock. Need to make up for lost time and get some miles done, and Ireland is on my list. Regards. R

Discounts are around but you need to shop around and concentrate your efforts on large well established BMW dealers who have a large allocation of bikes to shift.

I managed to get a £600 discount, free first service and 15% off accessories
on an 08 GSA with premium pack and full luggage

Although discounts are scarce, if you buy clothing or accessories at the same time you should get a decent price on them as the dealer mark-up is larger I am told. As you know most models are now produced with various 'packs' and you will get what you want more rapidly & economically if the extras you want fit into one or two of these packs (rather than your specifying a number of individual options.) Find out what bikes are in stock in various dealers within reach and the packs they have fitted to them. Then make an offer for the one you want with the pack you want BUT expect a discount on the bits on it that (in theory) you don't want - even though they cannot remove them. Sorry if that sound complicated ...I know what I mean!

I bought my GSA at the end of March 2008. Due to a combination of factors, such as the bike being in the showroom due to a cancelled order and the physical timing (end of month / end of quarter / end of financial year etc) this resulted in an attractive purchase price, an extra £500 allowed on my trade in, and a 50% discount on luggage.

The only downside in this scenario is that the bike is not loaded with some options I would have chosen had I waited the 2-3 month lead time for a built to order model - namely ABS / ESA - but I've lived without such luxuries in the past I guess...

Yup, mine is a GSA, bought in Nov last year. If you do manage to get over the this way, drop me a mail if u are looking for a guide for the day, i am in the south.
all the best with the purchase
