Really cheeky question

Hello,

I am going camping on the bike for a long weekend at the beginning of September.

I don't have and can't afford a set of panniers at the moment although I'd like to have some.

Is it out of order to ask if anyone would think about lending a set of vario panniers for a fee for a week?
Obviously if they got damaged I'd sell a kidney to buy new ones but other than that I thought it would be worth a punt?

Hope I've not overstepped the mark and if I have then please forgive.

personally i don't think your cheeky at all there must be loads of panniers just sitting in garages all over the country i have a set of ally ones in mine that have been used 3 or 4 times in nearly 2 years ,,bit of a waste really

Mine are on top of the wardrobe, never been out since I rode home from the dealers with them on, all shiney and new

Thanks for all the replies.

The Vern route sounds good but I thought if someone closer to Sheffield had a set of vario panniers they would fit straight onto the bike as it already has the mounts for them and it would be easy for me to pick up and drop off.

It was only a thought as the small amount I have in my slush fund won't buy any and there isn't any cheap alternatives on fleabay at the minute.

If all else fails it will be back to the top box and tank bag.

Thanks again for the really kind offer of the loan of your panniers.

By a stroke of luck it doesn't look like I need them now though.

I have aquired a set of second hand touratech rails.

Once I'd made the missing spacers and put the rails on the bike I fastened on the two Pelicase 1450 boxes I had.

Might not be as pretty as most but I don't think it looks too bad and they should be big enough for what I need.

As an aside. I would be more than happy to loan the set up out if anyone needs it and try and pass on some of the good will I experienced.
