Lads, what's the consensus on jackets with drop liner waterproofing in Ireland? The Beemer jackets, Revit Cayenne and HG Tuareg all have them. Some say not a good idea in Ireland cause it rains so much. Others say they're fine. I've been told that they can get uncomfortable because the jacket shell itself gets soaked through in heavy rain and often the damp leaks through to the inner lining over a few hours. Others have echoed this saying after heavy downpours the next day they find the whole jacket was damp and uncomfortable. What are peoples experiences here???? Are drop liners a no no in Irish climes or are they fine, or, are we just better off with jackets where the shell itself is waterproof? Also arent these drop liners also the thermal liners, so in summer you'll be cool but not waterproof??

Whaddya all think.......Just wondering..........

hg pro gortex has gortex on top layer so jacket does not get soaked downside is 500sterling tor jacket and 350 for trousers but worth it JJH

waterproof jackets?

I've used a streetguard (BMW) jacket for several winters. Goretex outer shell and thermal liner. bloody good jacket but expensive. I've also used and an currently using a Dainese goretex and these are good too but make sure you know what pockets are guaranteed waterproof and which are not. With the older Dainese, the shell holds a lot of water and the jacket feels wet and damp for a long time. but apart from the non-guaranteed pocket, no water gets in. The current Dainese doesnt hold a lot of water and all the pockets are waterproof.
I've also got a pair of light BMW trousers with a removable goretex liner which i've used in the rain once. the trousers are good for summer as they are light and have vents. The liner is a pain. In moderate rain, you can feel the rain running down your legs as if you were wearing shorts although nothing penetrated the liner. These trousers are kept for summer wear with a light jacket and a waterproof romper suit.

gortex top

the goretex top is only job, tri laminate and all that. It doesent get saturated and heavy with the wet.I use a bmw streetguard rain def. does not matter as much. You can walk in somewhere not leaving a trail of drips behind you.

have streetgaurd 2 jacket ant trousers, :) worn a lot in all weathers hot and cold, since 06, jacket now leaks in heavy rain along front zip ,:( will still keep it as they are great jackets :bounce1
