Hi what is compatibility of this unit? with a 2006 ABS vintage will a new 2009 model drive box be retro fittable?

I suspect not. The final drive ratio changed in 2008 IIRC and I've a feeling the ABS sensor arrangement changed as well. Any dealer should be able to tell you the full story. There is a replacement FD for the 2006 model with the drain plug in the correct place:- mine has one courtesy of BMW as a goodwill gesture.

Pretty sure the modified final drive with a drain plug was rolled out in late 06. With it came a larger pinion bearing and a different ABS sensor so you can't instantly fit the later drive to the earlier bike. Not sure what if any changes apply to 09 final drives but clearly if you have an early '06 bike or younger you are already at least one iteration too old.
