Hi all,

In wheeling my GS out of the garage the other day the back brake disc was scraping/grating a bit as I rolled the bike along.

It sounded like there might be a stone stuck in the brake calliper somewhere so I took the calliper off to investigate.

Towards the front (if you imagine the calliper on the bike) there was a very worn and ruined it of what looked like a thrust spring or something that seems to have come loose and been chewed up over time by the disc.

I'll order a new on (I'm assuming I need THIS (bottom of page)

The question is, how is it fitted? Anyone got a picture of diagram to help me out?

I've Googled, but to no avail.

I'll try and get time today (if it stops raining!) to whip the calliper off and take a photo.

The sprung plate pushes into the top of the caliper, it'll be obvious when you see the new one:thumb

It's not held that firmly and will try and jump out again during assembly so keep checking it until you are finished, probably what happened the last time.
I've gone for Ferrodos the last couple of sets of pads much more feel than OEM and last well too.

Are those clips symmetrical? They have a direction arrow on them don't they? Just checking!

Ok, so it wasn't the one in Steptoe's picture that had lunched itself in the calliper, but the forward one - the right-hand one in this pic...

Basically the loose fore-most calliper bolt had come loose/out and so I suppose the extra movement in the calliper had caused the foremost thrust spring to come loose and grind itself away on the top of the brake disc.

:blast

So, new disc fitted, new thrust spring fitted but awaiting a helicoil repair kit to be able to refit the calliper bolt properly and stop the whole thing wobbling about and happening again!
