Need to replace the rear brake disc on my 2006.
Do I need the TRW fitting kit if purchasing TRW discs?

These are the discs I am looking at: TRW Discs
And the fitting kit is then is a suggested item: TRW Fitting Kit

Thanks :)

Ive just picked up an oem rear disc for my MY12TC

I asked the question do i need bobbins etc - answer - no

rears are just bolt on, as they bolt to the hub drive flange, and not the rim itself

just looked -the 06 is the same

If you look, the fitting kit is for the fronts - it has bobbins etc

The OE brembo item isnt that much more supplied from them either but you need to add vat & shipping - & you only get a 12 month warranty on the part

New OEm Brembo isnt that expensive given yours has lasted 20 years its about £110 exvat (looking online) & would come with a 2 yr warrany i believe you may get some discount from a dealer

The TRW item your looking at comes out at about £84 with vat and shipping

Interested in this as my rear disc is also just about to reach its limit.

Was thinking to go to Motorworks, but does anyone know if this is one of those things that's actually cheaper from BMW?!

Doubt Bmw dealerships keep any in stock, expect a week - 2 weeks for delivery from Germany, usually ex stock in Motorworks, with fast delivery time.

Remember to order your new pads too.

Price wise, pays to ask......but:-
Brake discs are typically more expensive at BMW dealerships compared to independent shops like Motorworks. Dealerships often charge higher prices due to OEM parts and labour costs.

Mine was delivered in 2 days from placing order.

Even if stuff comes from Germany, it's rarely longer than a week,

And sometimes oem stuff is cheaper than pattern, it keeps you locked to the dealership

Also dealerships often have the ability to offer discounts, customer loyalty etc

Pattern or 3rd party suppliers, often don't

Thanks for the thought on new pads. Good idea 👍🏻

Order placed, Bmw Motorrad Stratstone, received order, advised ordered from their German factory, packaged, resent back to Stratstone Uk, then resent to myself.
I was 14 days for a brake pedal ordered on 27th April came 12th May, using that as a rough guide only.

Given that Slipperyeel is in London should reduce delivery times, unlike me in Aberdeen.
Still a good delivery, may be quicker with Brembo discs though.
Motorworks send via DPD on a 1-2 days delivery. 3 days to Aberdeen.....i'm used to that :nenau

Just had a look. £159 from BMW...

The only problem is. Ordering online from BMW Motorrad... I'm still fresh from the last debacle trying to buy a new FD outer seal (bought from MW in the end and all is good 👍🏻).
It might be MW again!

Plenty of pattern ones on ebay
I paid about 50 quid for one. Not branded but rear is a simple fixed disc. Bit of a gamble but it's been absolutely fine

There are cheaper, but Brembo was the OEM choice of factory standard, on his model BMW and they do last.
Why skimp on what is the most important parts on your bike, apart from tyres?
For £20.00 more for Brembo 1 rear disc, than say Ferodo, or EBC, I know which one I would go for, lasting a very long mileage before requiring any replacements.
Bmw trust in them, fit them and so do I.

Mines at 30k if i recall, on a 2012
Advised just starting to lip, and a replacement was suggested, ( local indie)

Based on the above price £180 / 15 works out to £12 year so £1 a month

i have to admit i didnt pay any where near the above price, as i get discount but it was UK stock

Mine is on 65k and it's just approaching renewal time (though technically, it's not there yet). So 50p a month for me 😅

I think I'm gonna get the rear this week from MW along with new pads. Fronts more expensive and they still have 0.15mm to go

As stated, no fitting kit per se, but it is recommended that you replace the 5 securing bolts.

They are microencapsulated (thread locked)
