I've noticed that there is a lot of brake dust on the rear wheel and the rear disk is noticeably worn. With the bike on the centrestand there is some resistance when turning the rear wheel which is lessened by levering the rear brake pads apart slightly. The bike is a 2006 1200GS with Servo. Any ideas why the rear brake might not be releasing the pads fully after braking - all seems to be ok otherwise?
Cheers

yeah + 1 with popell ,it may need a bit of tlc , mine was binding a bit when i first bought it , took the caliper off gave everything a good clean , checked everything was moving as it should and all fine after that :)

Rear pads do tend to wear quite fast on ABS/Servo 1200s, but as long as the caliper and pins are moving freely, don't worry, just keep an eye on the wear.

Replaced my rear disc after an advisory on 1st MOT.

....don't forget debris from "lack of fluid changes" can collect behind the piston(internally) and prevent *full* retraction of the piston.
I'd try cleaning first then the fluid change.

hmmmmm,44K on my '07GS Adv,.. non-ABS, still original disc/rotor.
Did go and change pads at 36K...for no other reason than just maintenance.

Did this start to happen after installing new pads??

It happened to me and when I investigated it I found that part no 7 was broken, this resulted in the pads not sitting straight in the calliper.

Replaced the broken spring and all is well.
