Does anybody know if the rear brake light switch contacts should be normally open or closed at rest (no pressure on the lever)?

On my bike the front switch contacts appear to be open at rest but when I measured the rear with my multimeter the contacts were closed at rest and went open circuit with pressure applied to the lever.

Is this normal.

The ABS/Servo is pooped and I'm wondering if this may be the cause.

Answer as always gratefully received.

Problem solved and ABS removal strated.

OK, found the answer by pulling the switch off and testing it.

In the rest position the contacts are closed. Apply the brakes and the contacts open. This is the opposite to what I need for the rewired braking light system. I shall have a look for a replacement micro switch at work.

So while I was on my hands and knees I started my ABS/Servosectomy.
Have disconnected the rear brake caliper and removed/bypassed this connection to the servos. Connected the standard rubber line straight to the rear master cylinder.

Will write up a post and take some photo's when all is done and tested.

A question for you Breakers

Do you know which brake light switch (Front & Rear) part numbers are for the normal standard non-ABS integral/Servo brakes.

I need to swop mine which have the switch contacts the wrong way round.

Cheers
