Hi all,

After a long and tiring weekend changing a worn clutch I finally got round to reconnecting the brake lines at 11pm (narrow garage, driveshaft falling out of the FD and no helper is my excuse).

The rear brake bled properly from the lever using the ABS pump and works fine but I cannot get the foot brake to operate on the back. The ABS pump is triggering but it does not pump fluid and there is no pressure. There is fluid in the seperate rear brake container.

Any suggestions to get it working again?

The bike is 2004 with the electric ABS.

For reference the clutch lasted 51000 miles and at the end was engaging right at the end (out) of the clutch lever movement. I am kangooring with the new clutch at is takes so early:)

Thanks

Alex

Have you topped up/bled the rear brake from the servo ABS pump reservoir beneath the fuel tank ???

I did top-up the ABS reservoir and bled the rear brake using the brake lever but did not bleed the ABS pump itslef.

I did a full fluid change a few years ago but cannot find the instructions specific for a GS with ABS.

Anyone have the links for a 1200GS with ABS and I will do a full bleed again?

Thanks

Alex

My guess is that you have somehow introduced air into the pilot hydraulic operating circuit for the rear brakes, probably best to get some fresh fluid and bleed again from scratch.

yup, sounds quite possible. The proceedure for bleeding the system is listed on here somewhere, its easy enough as the pump pushes the fluid through, just don't let the level in the ABS reservior fall or you'll be sucking in even more air

Does anyone have the link to bleeding brakes on the 1200 with ABS. Every link I find is for a 1150....

Thanks

Alex

Sorted now but not by using the "rear control bleed point".

The rear foot brake (and seperate resorvoir) bleeds through the rearmost bleed nipple. I disconected the ABS electrical connector and bled it in the old fashioned way (pushing the foot brake and opening and closing the nipple).

I cannot see how you can do a full brake fluid replacement if you only bleed from the Control Bleed Point?

Cheers

Alex
