GS1200. Pinion Torx bolt to hold rear brake pedal on. Mine seemed a liitle large when using a T30, but never had the right size. Loosened okay but starting stripping when torquing it up.

Anyhow, looking to repalce this bolt. BMW Reprom says its M8 x 40, micro encapsulated (locktite?). AND looking on gsinfo website, it says the same - Brake pedal to rear frame, M8 x 40 Micro-encapsulated 21 Nm (15 ft-lbs) http://www.r1200gs.info/misc/torque.html

HOWEVER looking at the parts fiche HERE on the same site however has it as a OVAL HEAD SCREW - ISA M8X35.

So I am going with M8 x 40mm. What size tork bit do I need to go find....What does M8 equate to in t values? I can do the mix and match between what I have but thats too hard.... IIRC i used a T30 and never had anything else. What is an M8?
Cheers

You need a T40. Not surprised you damaged it, a T30 isn't even close!

OK thanks. I did check again and I did have a T40. It would have been the right side but it is now so rounded it or the T30 won't fit. I ll get a new M8 and then replace next weekend. Thanks all.
