Hi. I’m in the USA travelling, and have rented a GS. The bike which turned up was a fairly high mileage R1250GS Rallye. It’s a great bike, but I don’t see a lot of difference between my own R1200GS with the exception of it being a little tougher in the corners. The big difference is the rear brake. The rear brake on my GS is fairly spongy, it slows the bike down a bit but honestly it’s a bit crap, which I expect. The rear brake on the Rallye is great - immediate feel and stopping power. I realise that the Rallye is a bit more off road speced, but are the brakes upgraded also? Both have Brembo callipers. Cheers.

You should service your rear caliper and change the juice. You'd be amazed at the improvement.

I have a 1250 Rallye TE. I thought it was by name rather than nature. Rallye colours, wider footpegs, rad grills but no performance upgrades.

They’re the exact same brakes. They do have an inherent problem with sucking in air at the back line though. Change the fluid and bleed the brakes and you’ll be astonished. If you’re lazy like me - buy the Stahlbus speed bleeder.
