Just replaced my rear disc and in the process cleaned up the whole rear assembly.
One thing that kinda makes me a little mad is that leaf spring that is clipped up inside the caliper and presses down onto the brake pads. Why oh why are they not stainless???

So my question is, am i missing a stainless option being out there somewhere? Does anyone know if they exist?

Pic below of the rear caliper fittings, in case you're not clear on the leaf spring i am referring to.

Stainless steel is brittle ..
No it isn't.
Depends entirely on the grade chosen and its application. Stainless steel is ductile compared to the carbon steel typically used for springs - depending on which grade is used......

For this leaf spring - it is a light duty item with a small range of movement - actually, i think stainless steel would be optimal. But it is a pressed item, which means tooling, which i can see might remove a lot of small independent outfits making them. But just maybe, someone has?!

Stainless shears easily (hence it's defo a bad choice for brake disc bolts - for example). I know something about why that is, but I don't want to upset your Saturday night out 😂
