Just had to fork out for a new rear calliper as it had seized slide pins due to heavy corrosion. Bellows covering the pins were ok as were pistons etc.
I have found sites that can supply rear piston/seal kits and all the other bits, but not the slide pins. Anyone found some online?
BMW can supply piston/seal kits for front GS brakes but not for the rear!!!! So for the rear, BMW's response is new calliper Sir.
TIA.

depending in size , fitting etc.

why couldn't they separate the calliper from the plate ? are they incompetent ?

why were the pins not lubed on service ? that's what red rubber grease is for.

i brought my gs 10 years ago , there was no grease or coppa-slip to be found on the bike , despite it having BMW service history from new.

Cheers Bob; i'll start searching. £350 for a new calliper was a wounder.

Haven't pulled the old calliper apart yet but was told they're very heavily corroded. Hence new unit as no amount of lube would sort the issue i suspect.

I'd want to see the caliper pins myself ,cleaned and re lubed many a corroded pin when I was commuting year round ,BMW default position is to make money from punters so always claim yeah.its knackered mate you'll need a new one .

Agree, I have rebuilt many callipers also and all the moving parts can be refurb as good as new. BMW will probably not have done the refurb as it will leave them open to court cases if you are involved in an accident. But anyone with a compressor can push out the pistons and replaced with new seals and pistons and then replace or clean and lube all the pins also.

I routinely remove and check my pins every year, there’s always a little bit of corrosion on the pins, I just give them a clean with emery paper then coat them with a slight bit of anti squeal ( The blue stuff ). I check the pads and pistons at the same time, it only takes about an hour to do all 3 calipers. The bike is a 15 GS and lives outside.
