rear end wallow at low speeds - rider modes effecting suspension damping at the back

BOTUS' original post alludes to demo bikes......hmmmmm

If he owns a 1300gs, then he needs to get it looked at, if not, he needs looking at

Exactly my point. ....why bring up stuff on demo bikes from a year ago and based on others riding?Ii haven't experienced it and would be interested to hear from a GS/A owner if they have as this indeed then could be an issue that needs addressing...but not too interested in theoretical issues from way back on demo bikes.....
Have to agree with Martin….what an absolute load of twaddle. I really wonder if you're a real person or as your name suggest just a bot trolling other sites for crap on the 1300.
I have never used ignore feature on this forum but congratulations……you have succeeded in my breaking from a principle…..

Botus, I've read all your posts again. I must apologise as I now realise you are really a riding God. Us mere mortals clearly do not have the dexterity to experience the feedback that you receive from a motorcycle. Again it is clear that few of us have the skills to remain upright on such a poorly handling bike especially one equipped with such poor lean angles that the heads scrape the ground.
Again my sincere apologies now, please, please, please, give it a bloody rest. If you don't like the GS, for goodness sake get rid of it and move to another forum.

the reference to the behaviours of three demo bikes was very clear - and was to say they behaved differently and there was no ref to when I rode them

I ride with a group of 10 other bikers at times on trips to europe - one should be allowed to hold a bike license - but he's getting old, the others own bikes but the world would be safer if we left them polishing them in their garages

had an ex plod neighbour and he's the only other guy I ever met that can drive a car - and he's easily the quickest other person I've ridden with on a bike too

Usually an abbreviation would be sufficient, but in this case..
Read and re-read this thread. What the actual fuck are you waffling on about?

Is this the same bloke that was the American riding god ? ( sorry I cannot remember his forum name….but he was a plank)
Or just the same sort of shite?

I'm loving this thread for a bit of amusement. It's right up there with the which cylinder gets hotter one.

you guys should get a tape measure out - vs a air cooled 1200GS with engine bars - the 1300 shift cam with engine bars has around 4" more sticking out each side - if you haven't noticed trying to get past cars (where what was easy on the old better ones, its now a park and wait disaster), when you corner you run out of lean angle much earlier too

it'll be quite funny when the joke ride height lands one of you on the deck as you stick a pot in the ground...... according to this AI drivel you have to remember to ride slowly till you get above 30 mph or run out of ground clearance - what on earth !!!

  • Strict Speed Thresholds: The system only lowers when your speed drops below 25 km/h (approx. 15 mph) and raises when you accelerate above 50 km/h (approx. 31 mph). In most standard cornering scenarios, your speed will keep the bike locked in its high (standard) position.
  • Delayed Lowering Logic: When slowing down below the speed threshold, the system uses a deliberate delay. It does not instantly slam down; it expects a controlled stop, meaning a quick deceleration for a tight corner won't prematurely trigger a height drop.
  • IMU Integration: The bike's 6-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) constantly monitors lean angle and acceleration. The chassis software prevents the Dynamic Suspension Adjustment (DSA) from altering spring preload (which dictates the ride height) while the bike is subject to cornering forces, ensuring consistent geometry and cornering clearance

We can now add death suspension to death tyres, death brake pads, death petrol........ looking forward to the next one:giggle:

To 'Stick a pot in the ground' you would need a lean angle of around 61-62 degrees. 55 degrees with crash bars. I suspect the tyres would have given out before you reach Moto GP angles of lean.
Stock footpegs will touch down at around 50 degrees, 53 with the taller sport suspension. I would imagine that's very similar to most adventure style bikes.
Normal riding would produce lean angles around 25-35 degrees. Aggressive riding around 40-45 Degrees.
I'm no riding god, but when the mood takes I can still get a lick on occasionally. I have caught my boot on the 1300 but never the footpegs.

The rear suspension does not automatically lower when the bike reaches 15mph but senses if the bike is coming to a stop and then it will lower. If you ride at a constant 15mph is does not lower.

Take some time, carefully read back through your posts and just try and listen to what you are saying. You really are making yourself look like some sort of buffoon.

No that is Boxerlust
Botus is the guy that pops up waffling about death brakes, PR6s being Death Tyres etc... he has very odd and very strong views on things apparently we now have death suspension although he hasnt used the word yet

why do you ride with them ? they sound like Death buddies to me

you get 5 degrees more lean on sport suspension
so >10 degrees of lean missing below 30 mph if active ride height is in play
then we add dips and bumps, rider weight, objects along the way and worse still if the suspension starts out compressed going into a tricky bend you have to ride around that

with at least 10 degrees missing from other times you ride that's easily enough to have a bad day
