Rear exhaust bracket fracture

There's always a reason......

Vibration I'd guess. If your exhaust mount isn't mounted correctly with the rubber mount free to absorb the vibration then something will eventually fracture. But it could be other reasons including rust or even bad welding from the factory.

Dunno, happened on a rental bike that had done 60,000 miles, a good few of those on dirt roads. I thought it must have been due to stress or vibes. Just wondered if this was an isolated case.

Three dawg

I've seen it on an 1150 which had spent 3 years riding around the world, so probably due to a good pounding:thumb

Some break, others don't.There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason for it at all.I must have welded at least a dozen up,some with stock pipes, some with aftermarket stuff fitted.Go figure:nenau

Mine cracked right on the weld last year.. over enthusiastic over the speed humps.. the chap who fixed it had a laugh.. "you broke your rufty tufty bike" :comfort

was easily fixed.. the weld was a bad one.. two thirds of the mating surface had surface corrosion... so had been like that for a long time before it finally gave way.

no harm done.

I'm surprised Touratech don't sell a 'hard part' to strengthen the exhaust mount - a real lost opportunity :D
