Hi , can any one point me in the direction of how to get the passenger heated seat working! .
I understand the setting in the TFT and managed to get the heated grips and front seat on but no joy with the passenger seat.
The hand book isn’t much use especially regarding the rear seat switch.
Thanks,
Ian.

Use the switch on the nearside!

Yes but what does the switch do ! Is the central position off and what’s one dot and two dots that’s what I’d like to know
Thanks
Ian.

Engine needs to be running.

Still no heat from the rear seat , tried all different settings but no joy .
Any one know if it would have its own fuse on the harness!,
Rear seat showing on the TFT 1 or 2 , but no heat .
Thanks for any suggestions,
Ian.

Do a Google search and it will tell you what fuses there are.

Yes plugged in , I can see where the rear seat harness plugs in to another harness under the rear tail section and it looks well clipped in to me .

I'd probably say it's the can-bus intervening.

If the battery is seen as below the ideal voltage it'll knock off stuff like heated items first.

I'd say either give it a trickle charge, or go for a spin and see what happens.

I’ve been out on a 40 mile run trying various combinations of the rear seat switch etc to no avail ☹️

Were you riding the bike with yer arse on the rear seat, i`m surprised you could still reach the `bars!:ROFLMAO:

What`s the backstory?
Was your bike originally supplied with seat heating or have you bought secondhand heated seats and are in the process of commissioning them?
Have you had to go into the TFT via a GS911/Motoscan/dealer to set it up in there?

If the TFT is showing that the pillion seat is selected (the `1` or `2` at the bottom of the screen) it suggests that there may be a fault with the actual heated seat?
Have you got a multimeter?
From memory the heated seats are only a two-wire circuit so check you have resistance across both plug terminals (seat side), the front seat for reference is about 9 ohms so i would think that the rear seat would be similar.

Thanks Hann for your input ,
Heated seats option from new .
Recently acquired this bike , previous owner never mentioned seat was not working 🤔
Front seat plug two wires rear 4 wires .
Thanks,
Ian.

rear 4 wires .
OK, i`ve just had a look at my own 2021 GSA heated pillion seat and probed it with the multimeter.
If you look at the seat with it upside down and the open end of the plug facing you you have 4 pins, from L to R lets call them 1,2,3,4.
4 is brown and common to the other 3 pins, and i believe that to be earth/0V. For the following tests leave your MM -ve probe on this pin.
The adjacent pin 3 is power for the heating element and measures 9.7 ohm which corresponds with the front seat and works out at a reasonable ~20W.
Pins one and two i believe are signal/control inputs to tell the ZFE that you have selected heating either high or low power.
With the switch selected to one dot (lo heat) you should have a dead short between pins 2 and 4.
With the switch selected to two dots (hi heat) you have a dead short between pins 1 and 4.

The pins are quite recessed in the plug so you`ll need slim MM probes and three hands....
I used a small length of solid copper wire to slip into pin 4`s slot and used a croc clip on that to hook up to the meter so i had both hands free.

You say your TFT is recognising the call for heat - the `1` or `2` symbol next to the seat icon so it may be that your seat element has gone open - pay particular attention to the resistance between pins 3 & 4.
Doing those quick tests should tell you if you`ve got a simple fault with the actual seat or something more sinister further upstream.

Good luck.

ps if all that checks out i`m fecked if i know, you`re getting into the TFT/ZFE and all that electronics bollix and that`s way beyond me, i don`t trust anything with no moving parts....
