I have a Givi topbox already fitted to my GS1150 2003.
I have just bought the pannier frame kit home from Hein Gericke.

Bastards [Givi not Hein Gericke], the indicators have to be moved, but wait for it.... If the rack for the topbox is already fitted then the bracket Givi supply to mount the indicators under the rear rack cannot be used?! Where's the sense in that then?
But where there's a will there's a way.

Two questions.
1] Where are the connectors for the rear indicators, so that I can separate them from the bike?

2] Perhaps if I shortened the indicator mounts by sawing them down a few milimetres they would not foul the panniers, so what are the stems made of? Just plastic or metal in the middle?

I recently changed the standard sized indicators on an 03 Adventure (to accommodate a set of Touratech panniers) and found that the F650 indicators were the right size. As they were not the correct type for that bike, BMW would not guarantee them. I think the connections had to be crimped, and the bulbs are now 10W instead of 20W, so I was told they may blow more frequently.

Connectors are under the tool tray, off with the seat and then one bolt holding the tool tray.

I thought about shortening the standard indicators when I fitted my Verns. They have a metal insert at each end connected by a rubber or flexy plastic sleeve. Looked like being a nightmare to shorten so I decided it would be easier to find some that fit.
Ended up bodging on an old set of Givi indicators off my old wing rack.

Thanks for that, for the moment I can live with it. The right indicator only fouls when the pannier is in place. I might try making some brackets at work, that take the indicators back about 50mm.
Or rather someone else will bend them for me out of S/S.

For what it's worth...

I found they were really straight forward to fit. The only tricky bit was putting the retaining pin in as it was a tight fit (as it should be!) and a bit fiddly.

Whole job probably took 15 mins (I was fitting panniers and rails at the same time so whole job took longer)

Eliminator, sir...

If you get no joy out of the indicators drop me a line as I'm planning to pull a pair of mini indicators off the back of my 1100GS in the next week or so and replace them with full size "no, I really do mean I'm going to turn that way" OEM indicators in the hope of reaching my next birthday.

If they are of use then you can have them to play with for nowt.

(Awaits rush of "If he doesn't wan't them can I have them?" message. Yeah, they're for give away when they come off, unless I fork up the fitting of the new ones and break summat requiring the little ones to go back on temporarily).
