Hi, I've just got a new rear light from Boxer Parts. It looks identical to the original, but takes different bulbs. Original light was twin filament bulb brake light. New one takes 10w taillight bulb and 4w pilot light bulb. I've assumed brake light has to be brighter than tail light, so I've wired 4w pilot as tail lamp and 10w as brake light. Is that right? 4w tail lamp isn't very bright for night time.

Usual case for UK tail lights is:

Tail light = 5 watt

Brake light = 21 watt

10 watt brake light seems a bit low, but when used in conjunction with a 4 watt rear it will show up quite well I should think.

Thanks. You're right. I think it should be fine. It was sunny when I was fitting it. It was more impressive after dark.
