I have finally put my GS into my shed (lots of clearing) and will be riding my old RT for the winter.

Taken the Givi top box and fittings off the GS and found lots of paint pitting on the silver painted stock carrier. Any ideas a) how best to remove the pitting and creating a smooth surface (what material did BMW use for this silver painted carrier?) and then how best to respray and preserve?

thanks

Martin,
I replaced my std GS rear rack for an Adventure alloy one and it was quite corroded. I got it down to my local car wheel refurb center and they blasted it and powder coated it with a powder polyester primer which was a great job. I then painted it with a good quality 2 pack acrylic car paint. Job done and better than BM do. Only cost £20
Ron. :aidan
