I had someone knock out the old piston so, not sure of the correct re-assembly.
Got the post 9/80 kit so I can install the new piston (it is the correct one).
What is the best / obvious way to clean out the M/C internal bore of old crud?
In the kit we have;
Piston
Spring
steel washer
rubber ring
brass coated collet / seal.
I see that the brass collet fits over the rubber seal. So, I assume the spring fits over the snout end of the piston and inserted into the M/C.
Then in order of inserton on the external piston hammer end, we have the washer first, then rubber ring and finally brass coated collet / seal.
Would I need a piece of copper tube to go over the piston hammer end to knock in the seal?
Clymers say to soak the piston and its seals in brake fluid before inserting. Is that the best way?
Or, shall I use the grease in the small sachet that was included?
Thanks for answers forthcoming.
