Hi Everyone,

Changed the brake fluid on my ABS 1100 today, Did the front first using my Mityvac, all good :thumb .
Whilst changing the fluid on the back sucking the old stuff out with the Mityvac, I was distracted and let the resevoir run dry, no big I thought. Topped it back up and started sucking with the mityvac up to the ABS, keeping a level in the resevior all the time, got fluid there and then at the caliper aswell. I pressed the foot lever down to build up the pressure in the line again... no pressure. Kept pumping but no joy.
It was then I realised what i have done. I reckon i have pushed the piston too far up the cylinder and bugger'd it.
Doe's anyone out there know if the master cylinder is repairable? And if so how??
Cheers in advance

Andy :)

Try squeezing the pipe that runs from the reservoir to the mastercylinder, you can get air stuck in the pipe if you let it run down -
Take the lid of the reservoir, and you'll see air bubbles coming up as you squeeze the pipe (if there's any trapped ) .

If none - try bleeding it the standard way, without the "vac" -

Hi Andy have you tried to push you pistons back into the calliper thus forcing the fluid back toward the res, your need a syringe.......it may be enough to release the master cylinder.....good luck Paul :bounce1

Both those ideas to try, off to the garage now!

Thanks

I did mine the other week after geting some of Steptoes braided hoses and found the back a bit slow to bleed through. Just keep the reservoir topped up and pump the pedal fairly quickly without the pump attached. I used one of those non-return valves from Halfords and it worked no problems.

All fixed now :thumb
Looks like the piston had gone up too far and got stuck
Pushing the pistons back in to the caliper sorted that and it pushed the air bubbles back to the resevoir from the pipe.

Thanks Everyone
