I saw an 1150 with a rear mudguard that hugged the rear tyre, and looked like it might actually be of benefit. Anyone know what these are/who sells them please?

Are you referring to the original part (sits to the rear of the back wheel) or an after market hugger (sits at the front of the back wheel). Both are of subjective benefit but the original ones are usually removed and left on a shelf somewhere whereas some huggers look ok and others look shite.

There’s a lovely Ilmberger hugger in the ‘for sale’ section. Looks like this, fitted..., but they’re pricey.

I had one of these on a Rockster a few years back, and to be honest, when it fell off* (it was slightly damaged when I got it I think), I didn't bother to replace it. It didn't actually do much more than make the swing-arm utterly filthy. :(

* Entering Hyde Park Corner of all places!

yep, they are a waste of money. Bought mine off a mate who wanted rid, from his GSA. Didn't stay on my bike long.

Other crap since removed was the locking oil filler cap.

Crashbars weren't replaced after a 30 / 40mph "off". Rocker box cover was holed, as the crashbars folded too easily. OK it might have been worse without them. But, the inconvenience of the extra width in the garage!

I have a Pyramid hugger on mine. Not as sleek and more enclosed than the Ilmudger pictured over.
I can't say it's pretty but it's very effective. I credit it with the long life of my rear shock, slave cyl and gear indic. switch. Saves some cleaning too.
