Hello all
heres some newbie questions forgive my ignorance
my 1150 has the standard odd rear mudguard thing which i dont know the name for ?
wot is its purpose? is it effective why do many folk remove it? i also have a hugger fitted is it the "standard thingy" now redundant and could be removed ? will i get wetter in the rain ?
any opinions greatly appriciated
Many thanks Mikey:)

Hi Mikey, my 'thingy' was on and off depending on how I felt at the time. You can get an inexpensive blank to cover up the mounting points if you do remove it....

The hugger will do much more good in protecting your shock and surrounding area.... you'll find that the 1150 ( and 1200 for that matter) has a habit of throwing crap up around the back end, including on to the passenger ;)

They are perfect for sticking your GB sticker on .

Take it off and bin it.

It's only there for the German market , to make the bike pass their t.u.v regs.....something about having something covering inbetween the back of the tyre and someone who may run into it :blast

There's no reason to keep it (foreign reg'd vehicles do not have to comply if going to Germany) apart from sticking your BG sticker on it as Steptoe says.....it's just waste plastic.

It should definitely be taken off if you do any serious off-roading.....it can get banged up around the back wheel by rocks if you have decent knobblies on

BIN IT :)
