Rear peg lowering kit.

Have only been a member of this forum for 1 day and already benefited from some expert help ie pinch bolts - 2 loose and now rectified, thanks for that.

Does anyone know if there is a kit to lower the rear pegs on a GS 1200, or is it a DIY fix?

Yes, we have the Touratech set on our R1200GS.

Fortunately the Kansas City metro area is a bit east of the true primary tornado corridor in mid-western USA, but it's still possible to have on around here on a rare occasion.

But to answer your question specifically "How are things?" In a word - Boring.
