Rear running lights

Any one fitted an extra pair of stop and tail lights at the rear of the GSA.

Was thinking to mount to the pannier or top box frames and use LED lights.

Any suggestions greatley appreciated................keep it clean please !!

It seems the focus is on what is happening at the front of the bike, HID lights, LED running lights ect, but in bad weather conditions the rear of the bike is very dificult to see, especially by some fecking muppet on the bl**dy mobile.
So me thinks the addition of a couple of nice bright LED may just draw their attention....abit !!

I ran some red Bike Vis Bullets on my top box, on my 990 Adventure through winter as i didn't think the rear light was bright enough and every little helps IMO. They are really good, well worth the money!


On a previous bike, without a top box i fitted some strip LED's to my rucksack that ran of a 9V battery.

IIRC Honda area the only manufacturer to offer a rear fog light for a motorcycle. Considering they are a compulsory fitment on cars it seems sensible to fit one on a motorcycle.

Rear fog laws on cars are pain the butt: drivers either don't know how to turn them on so don't use them in fog, or else don't know how to turn them off and they're too bright to follow. I hope you can avoid the too bright bit.

So how do I wire in a pair of similar lights into the GSA rear light wiring....any ideas

Greenman14 : hopefully by running stop and tail light configuration it should only be bright when I brake

This is exactly what I am looking for too

Heavy rain with spray and low light can make motorway riding a real worry for me. Extra rear lighting and even boosted brake lights would be great - especially if it were all switchable

Iv'e no idea about wiring these into the GSA I'm afraid. Ive got them laying around, so if you find out how, let me know! You could go old school and wire in a fused switch?

I fitted 2 LED strips above the rear light connected straight in to the rear bulbs
No brighter than the original - just more visible.
One is on with the normal light
Both are on with the brake light
I agree with other the rear of the bike is not well lit for a distracted muppet behind you in traffic or waiting at a junction.

ive been runing this set up for a while now,lamps off ebay wired into the rear aux power socket with wires run under the silver pass seat silver cover thingy

The question was asked in the Houses of parliament around 10 years ago about rear foglights, and it got the answer that they cause more accidents than they prevent.
Need I say more?

Don't understand why, but wouldn't be the first time 635 people in London discussed something they know fuck all about and got it wrong.

Apologies, I failed to mention that statistics were quoted. The 635 have their snouts so deep in the trough that they have no idea what is going on in the real world.

Great ideas autogs but would really like the lights to be stop and tail if possible

Anyone got a wiring diagram of the rear section of the bike
Mine is a 2012 GSA if that makes any difference

Put LEDs on my panniers couple years ago. Very bright at night and unobtrusive but visible during day. No leaks or loss of packing space. have a look at this thread lots of info, mine are from post 7 down.

Just fitted a pair to 1200R work well and cos panniers are double skinned nothing in panniers and watertight.

If they don't dazzle others especially in rain then go for it. But we all know how annoying rear fogs can be when left on by accident or plain thoughtlessness.

LED side marker lights are often self adhesive so no need to drill the case or bodywork. Use suitable cable connectors.

Some good ideas and stick on ones it the thread that work really well. I just have to much time on my hands
