Rear Shock 1100

I have lost all the damping (careless I know) from my rear shock. Getting some conflicting advice. A definitive answer please - can my standard shock be rebuilt? Mechanic at local bike shop reckons not.
If not - Hagon seems to be cheapest option.
All advice welcome - or offers of cheaper alternative (I am both miserly and skint). Just had gearbox replaced with one off later model and funds are at an all time low.

Have a word with Jaws. I know he does a line of reworked Blackbird shocks that get very good reviews from Bird owners, so he may be able to do something for a GS as well.

shock rebuild

Just had my 1150 shock done at MCT in Stowmarket in Suffolk.

Top job, very quick turnaround. £85 + VAT for the job + postage if required. This is the second oem shock i have had done and these guys have done a far far better job than the last one i had refurbed. I am very happy with their services and would certainly recommend them...... ooh, i just did

Thanks for this - looks like I'll try for a rebuild. Done 500 miles this week on what felt like a motorised pogo stick - keeps life interesting.

The showa shock can be split , if you have a strong spring compressor.
BMW just dont want to do it.

Me n D6 ,split my rear shock on the 1100 and i fitted a hyperpro spring.
The rebound was ok .

Go for a refurb job, they will fit new seals and refill oils needed.

Hagon shocks are ok but go for one with a remote resaviour , or you will have to remove the shock every time you want to adjust spring rate.
