Clinging to reality by a finger tip.
This here is a picture of the upper part of the Sachs rear shock as fitted to a Husqvarna.

The poorly translated owners manual uses terminology I'm not familiar with. I need to adjust the preload as the ride feels harsh to me and the seat height needs reducing even though I'm 6ft and long of leg.

The manual describes 3 adjustment points on the shock. First is the dial, second the two lock rings - both of which can be seen in the pic. The third is a screw near the lower mounting point.

Which adjusts the preload?

Thanks!

The Husky dealer told me it was the two rings on mine...I let them do it when it went in for it's service as they need a whack with a hammer to adjust... Lowered mine by an inch...

Sounds about right! Everyone else should remove the airbox. This gives easy access for C spanners. Tricky refitting airbox but at least the adjusting rings haven't been hammered.

Looking at that pic, your preload is set near maximum for that spring. Does the manual give you the "sag" setting for the rear suspension? If it doesn't you may be as well taking it to a suspension specialist to get it set up properly. Value for money wise, it will be the best performance enhancer you could ever have. Give me a well set up gutless bike, over a powerful ill-handling mule every time. All IMHO of course!
