I posted a thread about the "jogging" ride of my R100Gs a little while ago.
The general consensus was a damper problem.
Closer inspection showed a bit of a leak on the rear Hagon.
So, I`ve decided to spend money I don`t have ,on a damper I must have.
£600.00 or so for either an Ohlins or a Wilbers.
Any suggestions as to which to go for?

Talk to revs suspension at Halesowen.
Top Guy who really knows his stuff:thumb2

Actually, my local motorbike fixer gave me his number. He specialises in Wilbers, he`s local and we can understand each others accents.
Thanks for the recommendation. Word of mouth is a valuable thing!

I have to say my experience on a 1200 GS was great through those guys, John or Nick from memory (there are two of them!)
Hagon would probably rebuild yours for you at a lower cost than a new Wilbers, just a thought.

ive had a gs with an ohlins on and it was great cant speak about wilbers ,but i do know from personell experience (only mine) a hagons shock was the worst thing i eve ever ridden with

I probably will get the Hagon re-built as a spare.Always useful on the shelf, but as Nick said, they're really a bit of a commuter shock. I suppose this one's done about 45,000 occasionally hard miles, so I can't complain too much.
Thanks for the Nitron link, Rob. I may follow that route as it's a major saving.

Having had a look at Nitrons site, and added my weight (Christ!) and the pillions, should I throw a bit more on for touring gear, do you think?

I've got 2 Airheads with Wilbers fully adjustable rear struts and they seem very good all round with nice build quality.
I've tried a Hagon-poor and a WP which was hard.

Good luck with your decision.

If you end up rebuilding yours, you could do a lot worse than using Kevin Bancroft in Malvern. He really knows his stuff and builds/rebuilds shocks and forks for all sorts including Motogp rider Bradley Smiths mx bike the last time I was over there.

465 SERIES SHOCK
How about one of these progresive suspension not sure what they are like but with the exchange rate they are bloody cheap at the mo

if I was in the market to buy a new rear schock I would go to Siebenrock they have brought one aut just licke the old WP with the gas chamber for around 500 euro they look really good quity and their ajustobel in the hight

Finally got round to ordering and fitting a Nitron Shock. I've not been far yet, but it seems to be beautifully made and the bike rides well. Only problem is, it makes the rest of the bike look very shabby.
Thanks for all the help and advice and I`ll try and give a bit of feed back after a few miles.

Whooa! You can't just swan in here, say it's great and then just stroll out. We need photographs and a detailed write up :thumb2

Ooh er, erm, o.k. Detailed write up; Phoned Nitron and spoke to a helpful chap called Alec. Gave him an idea of solo, pillion and fully laden weights, paid at the same time and was told that it would be about 3 weeks for delivery.
As predicted, I recieved a text detailing delivery date and time.
Fitting was easy enough, the only problem being the removal of the old bottom bush sleeeve. I had to gently grind it down. I was a bit surprised as I'm quite keen on the use of copperslip.
The bottom bush on the Nitron is a bit more sophisticated than the old Hagon, being a "rose joint" affair with a couple of seals and sleeves.
It does look very nicely made and comes with a decent manual and adjusting spanner.
Damping and spring rate are explained and it's all easy to get to.
Sorry I can't get a photo up but the spring is turqoise. (If that's any help?)

Did you need to set the ride height up? Or was it all ok straight out of the box? Have you gone for the external ride height adjuster?

ive a bevel box in my stash with a hagon bush stuck on it. They were a poor fit from the start.

Hello Rob.
I think it's been set for my solo weight. The bike sits a bit higher, but then the Hagon Shock was passed it. The ride height adjuster is similat to the Hagon one but with a
"pin ended " spanner. The damping adjuster is a click wheel at the bottom.
I've only really done the commute into Birmingham for a week so I really could do with experimenting with different load settings. Good excuse for a camping weekend.
