Hi all,
following my positivity thread I can't help but think I have a funny feel from my rear shock now!!

I got a new rear tyre last week, then road to Cornwall and back fully loaded up with the ESA on rider and luggage.
No problems and no issue to do with the rear shock or ESA.

I'm probably being paranoid due to reading too much on here but..

It feels like the ride height is sometimes lower and I can get both feet fully on the floor, occasionally, especially with the bike not running. Also with the bike switched off I can compress the rear shock, not sure if this is normal?
When riding, all the modes feel as expected, the ride height changes as per the preload settings but it just feels like I can feel every bump more than previously. Sometimes when coming down off a speed bump it feels like the shock bottoms out, I doubt it does though but I can feel the seat as though it smacks back. Hope that makes sense?

Any way of testing my shock before I take it to the dealer? Can't see any oil leaks.

Bike has done 35k

Bottoming is generally going to be a function of damping rather than ride height.

It might be rebounding back too quick rather than bottoming?
I noticed the other day when I got on the bike after work that it felt like the rear bounced back up with more vigour than normal.

Dealer software update and reset needed

Could I ask what makes you say that please?
I hope you're right and I guess the lack of replies means the shocks don't fail that often after all?!

Can anybody describe the symptoms of a knackered shock?
Should the back of the bike sag a bit when you sit on the bike with the engine off?

Thanks. I spent all last night googling for information before asking here. If you know the answer you could just tell me?

Not quite that easy as i am a numpty with it myself and having just got a bike with all singing all dancing adjustable everything Ohlins i am probably as much in the dark as you or more so !

My experience tells me that suspension set up is a black art and well sorted suspension is amazing and stuff that has been buggered about with by amateurs is awful which is why i will not be twiddling any knobs or nuts myself but taking it to have it set up for me by experts !

Yeah I'm not planning on touching anything! Just wondered if there were any common symptoms of a knackered shock, such as it sagging when sitting on a non-running bike. I thought I read somewhere on here that they should be rock solid with the engine off.

Mine does that, when I set it for 2 up + luggage it's well high and I'm on tip toes but then sometimes I can flat foot without changeing the setting :nenau

Doesn't seem to change the ride or handling though (or I'm just unsensitive)

Mine has had numerous ecu updates , last year on holiday two up with luggage it randomly started dropping onto the lowest settings even though the display still showed as it being on maximum.

Stopped turned off ignition and restarted it went back up to its highest setting .............. it is a known fault which thankfully hasn't repeated since its service last year

ps it will NOT show up any fault codes on the dealers diagnostics when scanned
