Rear shock for 1991 R 80 GS

My rear shock is looking and feeling a bit tired. it is a WP unit. What would be a recommended replacement?
Also wondering if a yss unit from 1988-1990 if a 1991 ? ( say two on eBay new, one considerable cheaper than the other!)

Couldn't you have the WP shock serviced?

I’ve recently fitted a YSS shock to my G/S and I’m happy with the performance, fit and finish. Be aware that there are different levels of specification on these shocks especially when comparing prices.

They can be rebuilt. Send your shock and get it rebuilt for 1/4 the price of a new one. It will be as good as new.

SSR Suspension are WP and Ohlins and everything else approved. Or there is a chap on here who is a one man band too, he does a great job too.

Denzo is a good lad but If he isn;t up for such and old shock check out Clarence Bell Cardy Road Greyabbey

You could try Shock-Factory they are made in France but the chap that runs the show is English. I had one for my R100GS very good quality and finish works really well I had a small problem when I got the shock due assembly but I got on the phone they sent me a return label and I got the corrected shock back 3 days later. I think Mikey uses them on some of his bikes.
