Hello.
Recently bought a 2010 gs 1200.(18000 miles)The bike has a lowered seat but not sure if the bike has been lowered. The problem is i can't feel any difference when adjusting the rear pre load from full low point to full high point. The riders manual says you should see 5 slots when fully at low,i can only just see 3.(possibly a lower suspension unit ???)The bike suspension seems way to soft.I think the bike was of road for nearly a year before being sold, could it need re- gased,or am i missing something obvious here.Any help appreciated as not to familiar with the gs,and would like some info before phoning dealer to complain as the bike was only driven home and was supposed to be serviced. It doesn't have ESA Cheers

The shocks are prone and will fail after a while. They are warrantied up to 30,000 miles I think so if you bought if from a BMW dealer, it would be worth taking it back.

A lot of people change to Ohlins, Wilburs etc when their shocks die but it can be pricey. Alternatively, have a look out for, or put a wanted ad up for, a good second hand after market unit which are streets ahead of the standard offering.

Thanks.
The bike was only bought last weekend so i returned it today and will here from them this week.It wasn't a BM dealer i bought it from but the independent bought it from a bm dealer as they move on there older bikes to them .I will ask if the bm dealership will honour it threw the indapendent dealer.:bow Is it 30000 k or age of bike- what ever come's first.
