Rear shock rotating on bushings

I recently had a new shock fitted by a local garage, to replace an Öhlins that needs refurb. I've noticed that it rotates a bit inside the bushings, twisting laterally. The torque settings are correct. The bushings look correct. I hadn't noticed my old shock doing this.

Any idea if this is OK?

This is absolutely ok, there a spherical bearings at each end that allow the shock to move a small amount so that no bending stress is applied to it when the swing arm move and the shock compresses. ’They all do that’!

Thanks. Maybe the bushings on my old Öhlins had gone hard then, and stopped it moving.

The bushes will have got dirty and seized up on your old shock
