bike needs a new one :( ,
thinking of replacing it with the ohlins but not sure of which one and where to get it :nenau ,
any help from the various experts on here would be greatly appreciated :beerjug:

had wilbers in my f650

5 year warranty cant be beaten. all others only give 1 year.

also can end up being cheaper as well than ohlins

Speaking to MCT about Ohlins Vs Wilburs for my GS and have booked in for Wilburs just because the Ohlins are so expensive these days.

If your talking 1200GS:

Front:- Both are very basic emulsion shocks with pre-load and rebound damping only, Wilburs is under £450, Ohlins is about £650.

Rear:- Wilburs you can choose your spec, Ohlins do two, the chepaer one only has rebound damping (but does have remote pre-load) and costs @ £750, the higher spec one adds compression damping adjustment and another £300 to the price. With Wilburs you can get the highest spec shock with remote pre-load. Rebound and 2-way (high and low speed) compression damping for about £800

So for full spec on Ohlins you need around £1800, similar spec from Wilburs is about £1250.

If the Ohlins was about 15% more I would pay the extra, 50% more - no way! and as stated you get a 5 Year warranty with Wilburs.

MCT in the UK can supply and fit either, and I think you can buy Wilburs direct from the importer (although prices are no cheaper than dealers - which I guess is fair enough)

http://wilberssuspension.co.uk/ or also knows as revs racing is the main uk dealer for them

great service and have no ossue with shocks being sorted under warranty

there is a dealer in cork for wilbers but he can only supply them and is not yet cleared for warranty work.

but wilbers shocks work ont he basic that you give them your details and each shock is custom built to your weight and riding

ohlins just bang in different spring and use standard shock. wilbers spring, valve gas and oil according to yoru spec.

2 of us got wilbers last year and the improvement was just unreal.

on advrider the wilbers/ohlins discussion goes on but in usa a dealer told me that he says buy wilbers or hyper pro over ohlins and he is an ohlins/hyper pro dealer. also lot bmw riders in usa are now taking wilbers shocks over ohlins as the wilbers dealership network is growing over there.

hyper pro are an ex wilbers company so lot of parts are the same so dont rule hypre pro out as well. they are top shock and cheaper yet again. they are both dutch and are top notch shocks

i offroaded with mine and was brilliant shock.

hyperpro also have nice items, progressive shock springs so also another option than buying new units

moto-technic in dublin can rebuild more shocks including many bmw shocks which are meant to be un repairable
they also supply ohlins and many other makes of shocks as well
well worth a look as a cheeper option or to buy new

one other place, sasquatch suspension in usa. but an old shock on ebay, send it to him and let him work his magic. there have been riders praising his work all over the net. some say can end up being better than some ohlins units after he works them

as usual a font of information,:clap
thanks lads, did not think it would be so expensive but hey may get another few months,
by the way bike is 06 1200,
a lot to think about, thanks again. :thumb :comfort
