Rear Spring Shroud

Just doing a bit of "deep cleaning" after a run yesterday on Salty Roads and I noticed that the Plastic Rear Suspension Spring "Shroud" has been chaffing on the Spring and nicely removed the Black paint down to bare metal.
Anyone know if this is normal and is there a Fix.

Doesn't sound normal as from memory the bit of plastic is a fair way away. Just out of interest, ever had a hugger on the bike?

Yes John, I have a Motarrad Concepts Hugger fitted and thanks to your reply I have just taken the Hugger off and the Front part is also chaffed. Must be pushing the Spring Shroud onto the Spring. I,ll touch up the Spring where the Paint is damaged and leave the Shroud off for now.

IIRC the instructions I got with my Motorrad Concepts hugger included the remove the spring cover when fitting, and when you do remove it, heat it up with hot water so that it doesn't crack when you prise it apart.

My initial thoughts were that you might have prised it and broken it, that's why it was a problem Still I was in the right area
