Before anyone tells me off, I did a search but couldn't find the right answer !

Now thats out of the way I have simple question that hopefully has a simple answer.

My original chain and sprockets need replacing (12k miles) and although I have ordered a DID Chain and sprocket set, I also wanted to order a Supersprox Stealth Rear Sprocket (I have them on my other bikes and the last for ages, oh and they look good !)

However I understand the standard rear has 42 toothies, whereas the Stealth only come with 45, so, has anyone used 45 teeth on the rear and if so, what sort of difference would it make ?

Increasing the rear size sprocket will give quicker acceleration, but you will lose some off the top end. You will be revving more in each gear for a given speed, therefore probably using more fuel. It will knock the speedo out too

Sorry to be pooper but won't affect the speedo at all but will slightly affect the gearing but if you go one bigger on the front then all is well.

Have fun and just ride it.

I bought my 800 with 15 on front and 44 on rear. I found it snatchy and needed to change gear rapidly. I just changed the front to a 16 tooth sprocket and the change is amazing. Its smoother, got 58mpg, no noticable loss of acceleration. Glad I did it. In 6th gear it is doing approx 4500revs 70mph if that helps.

TT quote
"Compared to the original 16 teeth front and 42 teeth rear (F650(Twin)GS: 17/41), combined 15T front plus 47T rear results in approx. 10% reduction in speed and 10% increase in torque."

Personaly It's Standard for me :thumb2 :beerjug:
