Hi, I've just purchased an Xchallenge and I'm looking at changing the rear shock. I've priced Wilbers and hyper pro. There's not much difference in the price between them.
Is one definitively better over the other?
Tom.

Both r very good but ,there r not many rear shocks that can do over 50k + never cleaned nor service and still not leek. As skygod
Gs1200 75k
Hp2e 55k
Both wilbers and both were not serviced or cleaned.

I like both and ohlins
But ohlins in my 10pence worth need servicing to keep tip top

Just make sure the shock u get is for your weight and use

Too many people buy rear shocks for 10/13stone riders when there need fb springs

Got the Wilber's on both the F800GS and the G650 Xcountry :thumb

Well made and up to the job.

Over a hundred thousand miles on the F800. Dumped the oil on a trip to Ireland a couple of years ago (where else) rebuilt and still going strong. The Wilber's on the Xcountry transforms the handling. Got the Wilber's front fork springs and oil in too :D

Just putting a Wilbers 642 on mine; came on a bike I bought (shock only done 2k miles or so), but am sending it off to Revs Racing for a standard shock service as it's now 2 years old, and you need to service it to keep the 5 year warranty.

That said, am glad to hear they will so high mileages as I don't plan on servicing it again until something breaks. Luckily the spring was also right for my weight (which is somewhat over the 10/13 stone mark!)

The ohlins shocks for the X challenge are adapted from a different bike and it is very difficult to set them up properly. They are also very tall.

Thanks for the info lads. Hyper pro it will be.

If you can, pay a visit to Hyperpro Alphen aan de Rijn in the Netherlands and see Bas. He will not only custom build the shock for you, he will mount/demount it an unlimited number of times until both he and you are happy with the handling. There is a field and sandpit just round the corner.

I found that too, didn't like it

I will go Hyperpro at some point

Seconded......get it booked in and allow enough time and he'll look at your forks also.
