I have a set of road panniers that will fit VBMW racks....but on my R100GS I only have a rear ( standard ) rack. I won't be using this bike for touring but it would be nice to either fit a standard rear frame for the panniers or if anyone has a better ( hey, no pizza delivery top box photos :D ) idea re attaching a very small top box or canvas roll etc ( Timolgra snaffled my Vern special :( ). Anyone with any sound ideas ?:)

The very smallest "Scooter" top boxes work OK , and even the cheapest are acceptable quality.
Trick to mounting them to the stock rack is a lump of timber around 200x200x50, which you bolt to the stock rack. Then you can either screw the mounting plate to the timber, or dispense with the plate and screw the box direct to the timber .
Or do both - the catch will wear eventually and you will end up screwing it anyway.
You can paint the timber black if you cant get a piece of dark hardwood

[QUOTE it's a Pelicase.[/QUOTE]

That^.

Its what I ended up with - the snaller square ones are cheap enough now, and simple to bolt on with 3 insulated stainless "P" clips. Job done.:beerjug:

I used an ammo box for years on the GS. May even have a spare Vern box.....

Thanks guys, I don't use Vern Industries anymore...but the peli case sounds a good 'un ( going for the Peli Storm Hardigg Case iM2075 Case ):bounce1

I ended up with the non Hardigg version of that one (same size and everything, just a different interior/catch config IIRC), does the job just fine.

I took some stick about having a church collection box on the back of my GS :D

I'm not suprised, the lid on that one looks ..... well you know.

I still remember you turning up at mine with a pair of soiled and skimpy girls knickers hanging out the back:D

Very nice Kenny ,forgeting your on the small side and should get your helmet in there.(thinking of downing my r100gs if you or anybody else might be interested).:beerjug:
