MEZ 4 Has squared off and when out to MOT , rear felt like it was slipping like it was on a fine edge , is this a sign to get new rubber , Tester said it was still legal ,but what do you lot think ,is it time and where is there a good deal ????
Thanks Geno

Ride round some bends ye bugger:aidan

Tourances are pretty usable when a bit square, there seems to be a point when it feels a bit tippy, then past that it recovers, more a "feel" thing than actual grip, I accept no responsibility, just a tight bugger :)

Depends on you really.
Squared of tyres affect the handling. If you don't like that effect and can afford a new tyre, get one.
If you can cope with the feeling it gives (generally a reluctance to turn in originally and then a sudden drop which can be unnerving) and/or can't afford to replace it then don't, as like the man says it's not illegal, just not at it's best.

It's OK if you are OK! The ridge will always feel odd and a little wobbly but as long as you know what it is that's OK. Can give you flat tyre paranoia for the folk unused to it.

Hi, I had exactly the same issue with a metzler on the rear of my k1200gt. I went to trade the bike in at a BMW dealership 12 months ago and was told that the rear tyre had squared off and was not legal. As a result, I accepted a lower trade in price by the cost of a replacement tyre !. Unfortunatly, I had travelled some distance and the deal had been all but done over the phone otherwise I might have walked away. I was told that it would have been caused by consistent straight line travelling like on a motorway. I didn't have any signs of instability or pitching on cornering- maybe it was an over fussy salesman.

nothing there about squared off tyres,,,,

Thanks Guys , was out today for 40 mile and after a few mile it was ok , its just that test centre is only 5 mins from home and no way tyre was warmed up , Plenty of tread all over , will price around ,but its ok for runs when its all warmed up .

Squared off

Get down to the local roundabout and get a few laps in getting your knee down that will round off the tyre! MCN might hire you as a tester as this is what they seem to do.
