can some one tell me how easy it is to change the rear wheel bearing,
my wheel has a bit of movement at 38500 miles its a1150

Try a search under Paralever Bearings. It will depend on where the wheel movement is with the wheel held at either 12 & 6 or 9 & 3.
Easy to adjust with a few basic tools and a bit of know how.

Almost certainly the paralever bearings and they can be adjusted.

Final drive housing torque settings are
Right-hand pivot bolt 150 Nm
Left-hand pivot bolt 7 Nm
Left-hand pivot bolt locknut 105 Nm
You only have to work on left side bolt in this case.
You have to use a hot gun to open the bolt first and take away all the locking stuff before reassembly. Use new locking stuff when assembling the bolt.

the 1100 torque settings (given previously) are listed for R850R to 2001, R850GS and all 1100 models except R1100S

hi guys thanks for the info but it is the wheel bearing when you try to move it in the 9/3 position i can feel a slight knock
What is all this 9 and 3 and 6 and 12 movement.
If you got play it doesn't matter in what position you can move the wheel it could be the paralever or final drive bearing.
Try tightening/adjusting the paralever bearing or looking where the movement is when you move the wheel, or apply the rear brake and see if it stops the play.

Sorry Neil, its the local Polish girls, the 9am, 3pm and 6 are given their share, but I'm having big problems with the midnight shift, just need to sleep.

Ron, as Steptoe says get someone to hold down the rear brake pedal.... while they are holding it down if the play is still there then it is the paralever bearing... if it goes while the rear brake is on then it is the output wheel bearing.
If it is the paralever bearings they are adjustable BUT be careful, if they have been previously adjusted I would suggest replacing them, about £36 for the pair

thanks to you all for the info it was the paralever bearing (and no it had not been ajusted befor) i did it yesterday (fri) at work , i have a new job and can use the work shop after hours for my self, welding,milling, turning and so on.
