Rear Wheel Fitting

I've tried a search and not found anything, so if this has been covered before - apologies.

Since I bought my Adv last year I've had problems refitting the rear wheel. The wheel wont locate into the hub. I have to catch the wheel nuts on just 1 thread and then gradually pull the wheel into place (whilst balancing perfectly in position etc). Getting the bolts to 'catch' can be tricky (up to half an hour )

I can't see any obvious damage (and all 4 positions don't make any difference).
So do I make the hole bigger in the hub? or the wheel 'stub' smaller? And what would be the best way of doing this?
Exactly how tight should the fitting be? (my 100GS was on the loose side of "snug")

I've always had a bit of a game refitting the rear wheel too. I keep thinking of getting 2 longer studs that can be screwed into the beval box thus allowing the wheel to slide on, do up two of the bolts, remove the studs and then do up the two other bolts. Never get round to sorting it out though.

Bolts should be 110NM IIRC.

Works well.

Can't claim it as my idea but buying two new rear wheel bolts, cutting the heads off then hacksawing screwdriver slots in the end makes it alot easier.

Its still a lot easier than holding the rear wheel up with one hand trying to align it, stop the spacers and hub carrier from falling off while inserting the spindle!! A la conventional chain driven double sided swingarm.
