Hi Tossers, 🤣 can anyone please advise me we’re I can purchase a rear wheel locking stud for the GS 1250, I think it’s a M10x 40mm many thanks , and keep safe all !.

Take a wheel bolt to an auto parts supplier and get them to match it up.

What's a rear wheel locking stud then? does my 1200 have one or do i need one?
The rear wheel studs are m10 x 1.25 i think from memory.

How you going to protect the front wheel?

Wunderlich do one. Rear wheels are not known to be stolen!

With my 3/8" impact wrench I can have the rear off in no more than 2 minutes - the front would probably take me 15 to 20 minutes.

Having said that, the idea that someone might steal the wheel hadn't crossed my mind - not that I'll worry about it.

A very late reply. Wunderlich did do these .. but do not anymore. The locking bit .. I have just sheared and cannot remove stud. I wish I didn't fit it.
Did you ever fit one .. I'm desperate to find one to get mine off.

Nope, glad I didn't by the sound of it.

Good luck with your search.

I took them off my car as they are made of cheese.

Does anyone steal wheels anymore???

WHy don't you just use a chain to lock your bike through the rear wheel.....can't be stolen then
I put mine through the wheel then up and through the pannier rack. Lift the chain off the ground so harder to attack and stops rear wheel being stolen to boot.

I'm a former mechanic so have had to deal with these things when the customer brings everything but the "Key" socket... Or that one who got the wrong end of the stick, drove 20 miles on the spare with 1 wheel nut fitted, "Oh it's safe, it's the locking nut" as they handed me the other 4 :eek

Get a really tight fitting socket and get it beaten on there with a hammer, then it should come out... BE CAREFUL not to damage anything but the bolt.

If that doesn't work then the next step is a stud extractor, these also need percussive installation but are hardened and bite into the bolt head. About £15 on ebay or for a decent Irwin branded set, £25
