Noticed the handling was abit off today so checked tyre pressure and all fine, but on checking the wheel it seems there is a bit of play between it and the shaft, can this be adjusted out? Or is it new bearing time, and if so, how hard or how much is it likely to cost?

It depends where the play is relative to the clock face...
ie at 3 o`clock/9 o`clock or 12 o`clock/6 o`clock.

Do a Forum Search or two for dozens of posts and mucho info on the subject

(and don`t say you checked it at five past two :D )

Didn't look at which way I moved it, so will have another try, but also try the rear brake method to check which bearing, after doing some searching I found out what to check....:o

I know, must try harder before asking dumb arsed questions, been on here long enough now to know better :blast

Now confused as does it 9/3 or 12/6 with or without the brake on, so is it still likely to be the paralever as per my findings from searching through the old posts, or summat else :nenau

Mines in Pidcocks at the moment ... they reckon it could just need the shim replacing... not holding my breath though... gonna be pricey :(

Will pop it down to Bahnstormer tomorrow to ave a look and advise, I can't be touching it, not been washed since October so no amount of swarfega will get that grime off me :eyesdown

Mine did the same thing i.e. 9-3, 12-6 with brake on or off... turned out it was the Pivot Thrust Bearing that needed adjusting. :thumb2

snooky - seriously, take it elsewhere... CW, NOG, Vines aren't far from you... and there's a good independant guy near you (pm me for name etc) and there's also our own steptoe.

1st hand knowledge of the "quality" of SPC's work and 2nd hand from 3 other people.. and then knowledge of who Bahnstormer are employing on servicing (granted they could be doing a totally different job for a new employer).. and then 1st hand knowledge of NOG and 2nd hand on CW + several recommendations of the independant mentioned (Barry Barber, who does do 1150's but not 1200's AFAIK) AND Stepote was very helpful when I spoke to him.
