Hi All
Just had a phone call from my local BMW dealer who has asked me to make an appointment to have my 2005 recalled for a rear wheel issue. Has anybody an knowledge of a rear wheel issues on the 2005 model ? Will report back when I know more.

Really so it has taken them 10 years to decide to do something about this issue. So what do they do replace the wheel or check for a crack?

There was a recall over here a year or two ago IIRC.

It's just the mounting flange that gets replaced, it's separate from the wheel.

Do a 'Google', loads of stuff out there on it.

Right I did not know it was not integral, well I will have to take it back to them I suppose. thanks for the info

Had my 2006 bike done. They replaced the early aluminium mounting flange with the later steel flange.

I believe the issue was caused by potential over-torqueing of the disc mounting bolts at service.

All done FOC so get it in.

That's the excuse but really a solid disc flange would have done a better job and probably weighed little more than the fancy machined steel flange.

There is also a chance the wheel bearing will be upset when they do the job so expect a bill for a new wheel bearing sooner than you expected.
