Rechargeable Tyre Inflators

IME - 2 canisters.

You can try more, but they are not powerful enough to increase the pressure over mid 20s psi.
Thats interesting to know so as not to waste some trying to inflate as much as possible

I've never used them so bits of info like this is useful

As I’ve got a Dewalt 18v drill I’m looking at getting the Dewalt tyre inflator, it runs off the 18 volt Dewalt battery, 12 volt vehicle supply or mains seems an excellent idea although slightly pricey.

bit bulky to take with you on tour...

I also have one of these I bought for my motorhome

Its a fricking awesome bit of kit and I even use the larger hose to dry the bike its that powerful

But no good for taking on a tour

What about the CO2 gas cylinders they were pretty quick and never needed plugging in to charge

Meh! Creating a solution for a problem that wasn't really there :)

I saw this in Ride and thought some may be interested , as many carry some method of inflation with them .
Some people drop their tyre pressures when they ride off road and then need to re-inflate after. This would be perfect.
Obviously if you’re just taking your dual purpose bike to Costa the you can probably manage without this useless gadget.

How many are needed to blow up a rear tyre??

This.
In my pouch i used to carry 5.
I got a puncture and did a repair using the cannisters.
the 3rd cannister hardly put any extra in, but although not fully inflated it was enough to ride home safely
i could have gone to a garage and filled it tbh

a bit squishy in the bends 🤣 but it did the job.
After this i bought what i consider to be the best bike pump available "Rocky Creek MotoPressor with additional Tyre Pressure Gauge"
not had a puncture "touch wood" since, but I've helped another rider blow his tyre up with it... its small, powerful, fast and well built

I have this one Amazon - Tyre Inflator as others have said they hold their charge for ages. It's done a friends flat car tyre and only taken one bar of power off and it's topped up my bike a few times too. Also, good for rugby balls, campbeds and anything else one might have stored in their GS panniers ;) Overall really impressed with it.

Hey Arsey You keep posting them and I will keep reading them!!

You just Slaaaaaaaaaaayyy me ;) ;) ;)

In the Cycling world ( spit & swear) they are just introducing small compressors to compete with Co2 inflators. From memory they are about the size of a fag pkt.

wonder whether it has the capacity to come close to inflating a motorbike's rear tyre..

Wouldnt have thought so , Im sure I read a review in a Cycling mag that said it would do two mtb tyres or four 25mm road tyres ( smaller volume higher pressure). My reservation would be the small rechargeable battery. You can go months without a puncture then two on the same ride. A trusty pump and a strong left wrist takes some beating……ooh err 🤣

Last time I checked my motorcycle had a battery onboard that will power a tyre pump . I always take that battery with me on all my motorcycle trips (along with a very small Rocky Creek tyre pump) and to be on the safe side I take an engine with me too that keeps the battery charged up. No mains charging nor gas canisters needed either ….😉😂

I have the Ring one. So impressed with it that I bought my kids one each for them to have in their cars. Got them all for £30 each.

Crikey, my bike has the same. What are the chances of that? However, I can add that, at home, I have one of those old fashioned ’piston pump’ things, which you pump (and this is the incredible bit) with your….. wait for it….. leg and foot, the pair working in harmony. I used the piston pump yesterday, to put 10 lbs of pressure into each of my Himalayan’s tyres. Awesome, it was. Truly, awesome.

Another option would be the third party tyre inflators found on eBay that take your existing dewalt or makita battery, smaller than the actual dewalt inflator but don’t seem to have facilities to run off 12v bike supply or mains but at £35 worth looking at.
