I recently bought a cheap chinese car play unit for my bike. I guess you get what you pay for but over all I'm very happy with it.

However! I've it connected to the 12 v accessory socket at the front of the tank. the one the gps is normally attached to. Now the issue I have is that when the car play unit is on, it will not let the bikes switched power turn off! I have to do a dance with turning off bluetooth and wifi and make sure it's not still recording. It's becoming a bit of a nuisance. I've read somewhere it can be down to the unit drawing too much power to allow it to power off?!

What I'd like to do is just wire a switch onto the power cord down under the head stock. Something I can just manualy turn on and off when I get on/off the bike. I'm having a bit of trouble finding something suitable. Am I looking for a 2 pole switch? Just want a basic inline jobbie. Any suggestions? Thanks!

If you want a switched live -

the only one i could reliably find that was easy to get to was to take the switched live feed from the round diagnostic plug under the pillion cover

i just spliced in a extension loop and spliced in a wago 2 - 3 way connector

Given that you're talking about a bike where the switch might be exposed to a lot of spray/water, I'd search chandlers for a simple water resistant in-line switch then plumb it in using heat-shrink over the terminals.

I’ve got the spots switched off the rear aux socket. Cable too short on the car play unit to run that far and I’d have to get another relay etc

Still not sure what your point is? The CarPlay is attached to the campus/zfe at the front? Anyway I think a simple on off switch will sort the issues. If the car play is on the bike will not switch off and I’ll only need it when out for a fun spin.
