I'm looking to buy a hard top case (ideally lockable but that's not overly important), about half the size of the BMW top box. Has to be waterproof. Does anyone have any recommendations?

And yes, Richard, I know I can look on Google, but I want a recommendation from someone that has one.:pullface:D

PELICASE

Drill and mount it yourself:D

Peli case 1450 ( IIRC )

I bought a Touratech locking mount and attached it to that , so it was easily removed.... looked the part, tough as old boots too :thumb

Yep, there's mention of the Pelicase over on AdvRider.:thumb

There's quite a few options!

Givi Monokey E46 in ultra rare electric blue. A design classic.

(For years I thought it was called a Givi Monkey:rolleyes::blast)

Peli case with a salvaged lock from a damaged BMW pannier, lock coded to ignition key :thumb

12v supply to inside with car type cig lighter socket, USB, charge iPad, iPhone on the move :thumb

Blimey Micky, you did all that without personal recommendations ? Awesome! :bow

You have set the bar at a very high level :thumby:

Oh I'm full of bright ideas :D

Did you see my GPS (Garmin Quest) mounting on the X-Country? None of the 'orrible Ram mounts, just custom made and neat :thumb

But then we've got nothing else to be doing up here in Yorkshire

But it's not lockable. Someone will steal it.

PS Your hose is not coiled, neatly.

You noticed :blast

Mind you, I can take it off quicker than a thief could ;)

Back to Nutty's OP .... I think the Peli case makes an ideal top case. I certainly didn't want a big flippy floppy 'Starship Enterprise' kinda thing and certainly don't need to put a helmet in.

My Peli is bolted to a Wunderlich rack plate, given to us for the 'LWH II' trip with 12v in to it. It's lockable with either a small padlock, or as per above, and only needs to hold chain spray (remember that stuff?) puncture repair aerosol, first aid kit and a few bits'n pieces.

Ideal .... and works :thumb

Consider buying a second hand top box (one is bound to appear) and having it chopped down. There is a thread where someone did just that. Very neat.

PS What do you intend to put in the box?

Sandwiches.:D

And lashings of soft fruit and root vegetables, probably.

Be sure not to remove the earth from the veg, it will help the 'Adventure' image.
