I've bought a new walkman but will need a 12V charger for it. I have reservations though after the last one I bought blew my I-Pod.

Can be bought cheaper at Amazon £9.99 at the moment. As the Powertraveller site notes it comes with a wide range of adapters and is tiny. You will need to connect it via a cigarette lighter type of socket as the adapter fits inside that socket.

Do you know if it comes with a full size USB socket. It appears to have a mini usb plug but wasn't sure from the text? Looks like a hand thing though.

The charger fits into the car type socket, and has a full size USB socket facing out.

The kit comes with a retractable cable that has a full size USB plug (goes into the charger) at one end, and a tipat the other end. That tip mates with any of the supplied adaptors:

1 x Samsung M300 / G600 adaptor
1 x Nokia & 1 x Mini Nokia adaptor
1 x USB retractable cable
1 x Mini USB adaptor for Motorola Razr, BlackBerry and other USB powered devices
1 x Sony-Ericsson K750i wide adaptor
1 x DC 4.0 adaptor for Sony PSP and some digital cameras
1 x LG Chocolate adaptor

If your device will not mate with any of these adaptors, I believe they also sell others.

Okay another possibility then.

Ya prolly won't like the price. Pat:type

Yip, too tight for that one:D

As I'll only need the USB charger once a year for roadtrips on the bike It aint prudent to spend much:rob especially as in two years the bleeding Walkman will be stoneage technology:blast

That means if I spend £15 on a charger it equates to £7.50 per charge:eek:

On the other hand I could by a £2 charger and blow the thing up!

Hey Squid.

So sorry about that last one. I totally did not read your original request. All I noticed was I-Pod.

Most walkman chargers I have looked seem to be specific to a particular walkman.

I could give a link to Amazon Page I found but with so many models mentioned. Argos was a good site too.

Take care.

Thanks for the various ideas Pat:thumb2

If there is a £5 jobbie for the I-pod the must be a similar for plain USB. What I wanted was recommendation of a cheapish one thay was regulated. I think the last cheapo I had probably over volted the previous player and popped the memory. It went in the bin before I bothered to measure the output.

Squid.

No problem man.

I did buy the original usb car one I suggested myself for my phone.
Damn thing would work for about 30seconds and then I would get the message "not possible to charge using usb device" or some such mesage.
I still have it in the car tho.

As mentioned earlier .
Be Safe and ride well.

Also worth a try is www.razarltd.com for the i-moto charger. Bought one at the NEC. Reduces the 12v to 5v and has a Female USB end with it. So anything that you can plug into your PC and charge of it will charge from this. Really nice compact bit of kit. Currently selling at £25, (was £20 at the NEC)

I've ordered a Sony cigarlighter usb charger. It was about £14 - forgotton exact price already:blast

Not arrived yet but I'll let you know if it works OK
