So what's out there?
I'm an engineer so know how to weld, but just need something for those odd, small jobs.

It needs to run off a 13A plug and not take up too much space.

any cheap second hand mig welder will do, you just need a bigger wire nozzel and then use gasless wire. At least that way you have a spare you can put a bottle on if you need one.

if you must have a cheap gasless only then sip or clarke (machine mart) do very reasonble ones at good prices.

Aldi's do them from time to time (and they appear to be the same as the machine mart/SIP ones) and there good for the money 40 quid, used one to build my bike lift.

That's cheap!! I'd been looking for a 2nd hand Clarke MIG160TM as new they're around the £300 mark.

No such thing, what do you want welding?

I got mine from Machine mart for £80 in about 1987, Clarke 120e; still going.
Dozens of jobs:
rebuilt a MG floor pan
fixed a gate
fixed a horse box
Knocked up an axle for a home made dingy launching trolley a mate's son made
made a 'lite' tow bar for a 5 series BMW for a bike wrack
fixed my trailer
replaced several parts of a landrover chassis

I can't build no alloy paniers, but I think I've a small cheep welder.

ooo err re-read the original post. Gasless? not a good idea

In the past I've always had a full oxy/acetolene set and a decent stick welder so miss having the abilty to sort little jobs myself:thumb

I think the original price was about 80 but if you leave it long enough they knock the price down to get rid of stock, the more recent one Aldi did, had the facility to take a small bottle if need be.

I'm not a welder by profession but even for 80 quid, I think there a cracking buy.
